Void ended up going into the Abyss where he met the IoE and directly made a deal with it in order to become the first member of the God Hand. My theory is when Gaiseric had Void imprisoned and (presumably) had his eyes sewed shut, he used his lack of senses and spare time to project himself into the astral world, and ended up going too deep. In this panel it clearly showed what looked like the Abyss, and I believe made reference to whatever is now the canon version of the IoE.
